Terms and Conditions for Luggage Storage Service

 

1.Introduction 

 

Welcome to Mallaig Luggage Storage ("we," "our," "us"). By using our luggage storage service ("Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions ("Terms"). Please review these Terms carefully. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our Service.

 

2.Eligibility

To use our Service, you must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into legally binding contracts.

 

3.Service Usage

​

3.1 Storage Period: Luggage can be stored for a maximum period of 14 days. Extensions can be requested by phone or email and require approval before the end of the initial storage period.

 

3.2 Storage Fees: Fees are calculated based on the size and duration of storage. Full payment is required at the time of drop-off.

 

3.3 Access to Luggage: Access to stored luggage is permitted during our business hours from 7am till 7pm. 

Please notify us in advance if you need to access your luggage.

 

4. Prohibited Items List for Storage Service: 

 

Hazardous Materials:

 

Explosives: Materials that are chemically unstable and liable to explode, including 

 

fireworks, flares, and ammunition.

 

Flammable Liquids: Substances that can ignite easily at ambient temperatures, such as gasoline, diesel, lighter fluid, and solvents.

 

Flammable Solids: Substances liable to spontaneous combustion or that emit flammable gases when wet, including matches and certain types of metal powders.

 

Oxidizing Substances: Materials that can cause or enhance the combustion of other materials, such as bleaches and peroxides.

 

Toxic Substances: Materials posing serious health risks if inhaled, swallowed, or through skin contact, including pesticides, herbicides, and cyanide.

 

Infectious Substances: Biological materials that can cause disease in humans or animals, 

 

such as bacteria, viruses, and toxins.

 

Radioactive Material: Any material containing radionuclides where both the activity concentration and the total activity exceed certain thresholds.

 

Corrosives: Substances that can cause severe damage to living tissue, metals, or other goods on contact, such as acids and alkalis.

 

Other Prohibited Items:

 

Illegal Substances: Any drugs or pharmaceuticals prohibited by law.

 

Stolen Property: Any goods known to be stolen or acquired through illegal means.

 

Perishable Goods: Items requiring refrigeration or controlled environments, 

 

including foodstuffs and certain pharmaceuticals.

 

Valuable Items: High-value items such as cash, jewelry, artworks, and antiques exceeding a specified monetary limit to avoid risk and complications.

 

Additional Notes:

 

This list is in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH), and other relevant Scottish safety and environmental regulations.

 

5. Liability and Insurance

 

* Limited Liability: We shall not be held liable for any loss, theft, or damage to your luggage unless such damage results from our gross 

 

negligence or intentional misconduct. In such cases, our liability will be limited to £500 per customer.

 

* Insurance: While we take reasonable care to secure your belongings, it is highly recommended that customers secure their own insurance coverage for items stored with us. This insurance should adequately cover the potential value of the stored items. For example Person Property Insurance. 

 

  6. Customer Obligations

 

   *Accurate Information: You must provide accurate and complete information when registering for the Service.

 

   *Compliance with Laws: You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations 

 

regarding the items you store.

 

7. Termination 

 

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason.

 

8. Unclaimed Luggage 

 

Luggage not claimed within 2 days after the agreed storage period will be considered abandoned. Before disposing of any luggage, we will attempt to contact the owner using the contact information provided at the time of drop-off. If no response is received within an additional 48 hours, we reserve the right to dispose of the luggage in compliance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. 

 

This may include selling the items and donating the proceeds to a charity or disposing of them if unsellable.

9. Amendments to Terms 

 

We may modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised Terms on our website. Your continued use of the Service after the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
